Why starter fertilizer may help
Newly germinating grass has different establishment needs than mature turf. A suitable starter fertilizer can supply a measured nutrient application during establishment, but the product and application must fit the lawn's condition and applicable Illinois requirements.
- You are overseeding thin or bare turf.
- New seed needs support during early establishment.
- You want an even, professional application across accessible lawn areas.
- You are combining fall services into one coordinated visit.
What the service includes
Stellar reviews the approximate lawn area, establishment stage and selected fall services before confirming whether starter fertilizer is appropriate. When included, the selected product is applied evenly with professional spreading equipment. Lawn size, access, product requirements, soil information and property conditions can affect the final scope.
Illinois application note: Phosphorus-containing lawn fertilizer is restricted for applicators for hire unless an exception applies, including qualifying soil-test results or establishing a lawn during its first two growing seasons. A 0% phosphate product is treated differently under the statute. Product selection and eligibility are confirmed before service. See the Illinois General Assembly requirements. Larger lawn savings: Each 5,000 sq. ft. portion receives its own discount: first at the standard price, second 10% off, third 15% off, fourth 20% off, and fifth onward 25% off. Discounts use the original rate and apply only to that portion; partial additional portions are prorated.
Starting price: $99 for up to 5,000 sq. ft. Lawns from 5,001 to 87,120 sq. ft. are estimated by area. Final pricing is confirmed after property details are reviewed.
