Understanding thatch

Thatch is the layer of stems, roots and organic material between green grass and the soil. A modest layer can be normal, but excessive buildup can interfere with water movement and keep nutrients from reaching the soil surface efficiently.

Dethatching and aeration solve different problems

Dethatching addresses excess material near the surface. Core aeration addresses compacted soil by removing plugs. A property may need one service, both services or neither, depending on actual conditions.

Starting price: $199 for up to 5,000 sq. ft. Lawns from 5,001 to 87,120 sq. ft. are estimated by area. Final scope depends on lawn condition, access and material volume. Larger lawn savings: Each 5,000 sq. ft. portion receives its own discount: first at the standard price, second 10% off, third 15% off, fourth 20% off, and fifth onward 25% off. Discounts use the original rate and apply only to that portion; partial additional portions are prorated.
